Beech Trail
Part of the Ohiopyle State Park, Beech Trail is a 2.7 mile moderately difficult trail that begins at the Kentuck Campground Amphitheater and passes through a forest of towering American beech trees and leads to the Great Gorge Trail.

Ferncliff Peninsula National Natural Landmark
Part of the Ohiopyle State Park, Ferncliff was created by a meander in the Youghiogheny River. This 100-acre peninsula is a unique habitat that contains many rare and interesting plants. Recognized for its botanical diversity for over a century, in 1973 the peninsula was declared a National Natural Landmark.

Ferncliff Trail, part of the Ohiopyle State Park, is a 1.7 mile easy trail that circles Ferncliff Peninsula National Natural Landmark. Recognized for its botanical diversity, the trail contains many rare and interesting plants.
Fernwood Trail
Part of the Ohiopyle State Park, Fernwood Trail is a 0.5 mile easy hiking trail featuring beautiful ferns and the remnants of the old Ferncliff Hotel.

58,000 acres along the Laurel and Chestnut Ridges with more than 250 miles of hiking trails, 115 miles of snowmobile and mountain bike trails and 150 miles of cross-country ski trails. The 7,441-acre Quebec Run Wild Area has an extensive forested, mountainous trail network. Natural areas include the 3,700-acre Roaring Run and 650-acre Mt. Davis, the highest point in the state (3,213 feet).

On July 3, 1754, in the wilderness of the Allegheny Mountains, Colonial troops commanded by 22 year-old Colonel George Washington were defeated in this small stockade at the "Great Meadow." This opening battle of the French and Indian War began a seven-year struggle between Great Britain and France for control of North America. Great Britain's success in this war helped pave the way for the American Revolution.
Fort Necessity National Battlefield is located in the mountains of southwestern Pennsylvania, about 11 miles east of Uniontown. The park comprises approximately 900 acres in three separate sites. The main unit contains the visitor center, the battlefield with the reconstructed Fort Necessity, and the Mount Washington Tavern. The Braddock Grave unit is approximately 1.5 miles west of the main unit and the Jumonville Glen unit is approximately seven miles northwest of the main unit.

Set aside from one to three hours to visit and enjoy the historic house, exhibits, audio tour, nature trails and any special programs.
A self-guided audio house tour and "Reflections of Gallatin" presentation are offered throughout the year. During the summer season (Memorial Day through Labor Day) ranger-lead house tours are offered daily with concerts, special programs and lectures on weekends. A picnic area and comfort station are adjacent to the main parking area. Visitors can explore the 661-acre park by way of ten miles of nature trails.

Bicycling and hiking are the two most popular activities. In addition, sections of the trail system are open to equestrians. The trail system is universally accessible. Winter snow allows cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Fishermen take the trail to favorite fishing spots. Bird watching is another favorite activity.
Great Gorge Trail
2.6 mile Moderate difficulty hiking trail at Ohiopyle State Park that crosses several bridges and roads. Passes an area known for its spring wildflowers. Another section of the trail follows an old tramway used to transport coal to the railroad. A spur of the trail leads up a steep incline to a campground.

Indian Creek Valley Trail

The Indian Creek Valley Trail is a 5 mile crushed aggregate trail near Ohiopyle, PA, good for hiking and mountain biking. The trail starts at Champion and continues south to Indian Head. The ICVT may one day be linked to the Youghiogheny River Trail.
Jonathan Run Trail
Easy 1.7 mile hiking trail at Ohiopyle State Park. The trail passes by several small waterfalls.

Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail
70 mile very difficult year-round backpacking trail with its southern end in Ohiopyle State Park. This trail traverses state parks, state forests, state game lands, other public lands and private lands. Overnight shelter areas are located every 8 - 10 miles with fireplaces, non-flush toilets, a water supply and tent spaces. The Ohiopyle section (6.3 miles) is very strenuous rocky hiking trail. It features beautiful overlooks and creeks along the way. The conversion of former railroad corridors into public use trails is a Pennsylvania success story. Each year, millions of outdoor enthusiasts now enjoy a growing network of Rail-Trails. Through a dynamic partnership with DCNR, local Rail-Trail organizations, counties, townships, and municipalities have acquired, designed, constructed, and are managing and maintaining Rail-Trails in every region of the Commonwealth. From small villages in rural areas to larger cities in highly urbanized centers, volunteers have come together to make the Pennsylvania Rail-Trail Program a national leader. The Rotary Walk Trail includes 0.75 miles open of trail from Lebanon Street in South Union Township to Fayette Street in downtown Uniontown. Uniontown and Redstone Junction act as trailheads.

Whitsett Trailhead
(Whitsett, Route 51) - Perryopolis to Connellsville measures 14.5 miles. Trail open daily dawn to dusk. Part of the Great Allegheny Passage - 43 miles of trails. No overnight use except in authorized areas. Points of interest include George Washington Grist Mill and Dawson Historic District. Includes 27 miles of easy hiking/biking trail.

2,800-acre lake with power boating and water-skiing. Walleye and smallmouth bass fishing, year-round trout fishing in the outflow. Camping, hiking and beach swimming. In the heart of the Laurel Highlands and spanning the Mason-Dixon line between Pennsylvania and Maryland lays Youghiogheny River Lake. Boaters consider Youghiogheny River Lake, with its 16 mile length and channels up to one-half mile wide, the best powerboat and water-skiing lake in southwestern Pennsylvania. The tail waters of the dam are one of the few in Pennsylvania open for trout fishing year round and are stocked by the Fish and Boat Commission on a regular basis throughout the spring and summer.
